Excellelnt May 29, 2008 I Bought this Folding cane for my mom for a trip. She loves it! It came in handy the folding style is really smart especially on an airplane.
Great Cane May 28, 2008 I bought one of these around 3 months ago and haven't had a single reservation about it since. Its easily adjustable and the handle can be removed and replaced with various other styles and colors. Great Product!
Sturdy, Practical Folding Cane by Hugo May 26, 2008 I've been looking for a folding cane to take on a trip to Europe. I don't need a cane all the time but I know that my trip will require a lot of walking and at the end of the day I will need support to move. I looked at several folding canes and decided Hugo had the best reputation, plus it's designed to support a lot of weight. I'm rather self conscious about using a cane. I feel awkward when I use one but there are time I definitely need one. I wasn't sure if I wanted this black one or the silver one with a slightly different handle. My husband said the black look looked less like an old lady cane. He was right. I've used this cane several times and it is very comfortable to use. The handle is hard but is balanced and hasn't caused blisters or callouses. The cane feels light weight but gives excellent support. It is easy for me to fold and put away and very quick to get out and snap it in place for use. I don't feel old and handicapped when I use this cane. The black finish appears classier than silver canes and at times not as noticeable. This isn't an advantage if you want your cane to also serve as a reflective device, but it suits my needs. My only complaint is that I have dropped the elastic band that holds the cane in it's folded position several times. I'm afraid I'll lose it. When I first got the cane, it took me a while to adjust it to my height. I couldn't get the shaft to move up or down. After 10 minutes of trying, the shaft finally moved and since I'm the only one using it, I shouldn't need to adjust it again. The Amazon price is the best that I've seen for this cane. I'm glad I bought it. I don't feel as self conscious using it and it folds well. I usually keep it in the car but will be carrying it in my backpack for my trip.
Poor construction May 22, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I first received this cane I thought it was well constructed and sturdy. However, after the second time I folded it the 'joints' became loose and it wiggled when I used it. The fourth time I folded it one of the internal nylon 'gaskets' started to pull loose from the cane section. I pushed it back in. After the sixth time I folded it one of those 'gaskets' came apart and fell down into one of the sections of the cane. I could not retrieve it. This rendered the cane worthless.
Had a problem with the first but... May 2, 2008 You can't go wrong for the value. I paid just under $13 for it on Amazon and it was worth it. The accessories it comes with are worth it alone.
Many folding canes DO NOT come with a velcro or plastic wrap, holding the cane in place while folded. This one comes with both wraps and a little durable (I think it's made out of) nylon baggie and a wrist strap.
So what was the problem with the first you ask? The cane fell a few times and the wood handle chipped Amazon replaced it no problem. (Amazon rocks with returns and exchanges.)
FYI: I needed the cane while recovering from a knee injury.
